The Comprehensive Neurology Clinic's EEG Program provides education and training in Neurodiagnostic Technology, specifically in EEG. This program aims to prepare participants to successfully pass the EEG registry exam (R. EEG T. offered by ABRET). As professionals in this health science field, students will learn to study and record the electrical activity of the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems using advanced electronic testing equipment.
The EEG Program at Comprehensive Neurology Clinic is a nationally recognized program that offers innovative educational opportunities for adults. Exceptional students, an outstanding faculty, and a rigorous curriculum all contribute to the program's success.
Neurodiagnostic is an allied health profession that involves recording, monitoring, and analyzing nervous system function. EEG technologists collaborate with physicians, researchers, and other healthcare professionals to provide vital information in the evaluation and diagnosis of brain disorders such as epilepsy, stroke, coma, degenerative disorders, and neurological trauma.
Neurodiagnostic technologists possess the knowledge, skills, and competency to obtain interpretable recordings of a patient's nervous system function. They are trained in various diagnostic procedures, including Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Polysomnography (PSG), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), and Intra-operative Monitoring (IOM).
The EEG program is designed to equip students with a solid foundation in theory and clinical experience in a variety of EEG and PSG testing procedures. The program focuses on preparing students to pass the EEG registry exam by providing comprehensive instruction.
The program is structured to include web-based software instruction as well as one-on-one clinical instruction with a registered technologist. It is a one-year program that covers EEG and PSG technologies and is offered over four terms that can begin at any time upon request. This combination of web-based and clinical instruction ensures that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
Enrollees must demonstrate high levels of motivation and a willingness to work at a fast pace. Clinical experience is conducted on-site, where students receive hands-on experience for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
The goal of our program is to equip enrollees with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the EEG registry exam offered by ABRET, which is widely recognized as the gold standard for R. EEG T. certification.
Registered EEG technologists have the opportunity to earn college credits for their R. EEG T. credential through several accredited colleges.
At least six regionally-accredited colleges and universities offer online programs that grant up to 30 college credits for the R. EEG T. credential. Enrolling in our program and passing the R. EEG T. exam can make it much more feasible for technologists to complete their degree at one of these universities.
